The Geopatial Data Systems (GSDS) Laboratory is the remote sensing, GIS, GPS and digital mapping arm of the Energy & Geoscience Institute at the University of Utah (EGI). The GSDS Laboratory provides these services primarily to government agencies and the geothermal and petroleum industries. We can provide services customized to any clients needs, including the development of specialized GIS interfaces.

We have a broad expertise in the application of remote sensing and GIS for geo- and environmental science, with an emphasis on the petroleum, geothermal and mining industries. We can help in exploration, siting, field/mine monitoring and geospatial database development.

The GSDS Laboratory cooperates with the DIGIT Laboratory, Department of Geography, to maximize the pool of geomatics talent at the University of Utah. This cooperative effort offers multidisciplinary expertise to address a wide spectrum of GIS and remote sensing problems.
